We wanted to be able to forecast based on what is currently happening within the Trust in terms of workforce, in as real time as possible. We have been able to ‘look back at analysis’ but never had the ability to have an automated support in understanding trends as they emerge.

The introduction of mii People Analytics by Liaison Workforce is enabling the Trust to better understand its recruitment and retention challenges through the use of hard evidence, not on an anecdotal or ‘gut feel’ basis.

We are really pleased with the support we gain from the Liaison Workforce team. We are able to request ad hoc workforce intelligence (some of which have helped to inform CQC requirements) and system guidance which are provided rapidly which give us the answers we need really quickly!

The client services and agency engagement team were able to provide additional support to ensure we gained the right candidates for hard to fill roles. The system is intuitive making it straightforward when we need to source, access and book temporary staff.

Through the use of technology and expertise, we have been able to gain further control of our temporary medical spend, which has enabled us to reduce our agency costs. We have access to fantastic workforce intelligence which enables us to make evidence-based decisions and provides us complete visibility.

We are pleased to have achieved the savings we have to date and are looking forward to making more savings and efficiencies moving forward.

Launching People Planning has been an eye-opening experience. People Planning has enabled us to capture a wealth of data from our line managers that we would have missed in our usual interactions. We now have the ability to build a picture of our workforce Learning & Development needs, in addition to recruitment itchy feet and those keen for their next challenge. The support and expertise of the team has been invaluable to the success of this project.

We’ve been successful in securing regional collaboration, not only in terms of addressing and harmonising pay rates, but also in improving the patient safety side. With some fifty percent of the doctors rotating around the region, we’re now using a workforce that is aware of how we operate within the region and the systems at the individual hospital trust sites. The collaborative bank ensures that we have doctors and dentists working at the level, specialty and competence that they have been trained to do within the NHS.

We required a rapid solution to develop and deploy a dedicated bank to manage our vaccination workforce to support Primary Care Networks and Mass Vaccination Centres. Given the scope and expectation of administering the Covid-19 vaccination programme, it was essential that an effective solution was produced and implemented quickly. Working in partnership with Liaison Workforce was excellent, and they provided great support throughout the project.

Ultimately, we need to be engaging the workforce by using better information and systems to drive down costs and seek further opportunities for savings via efficiencies and streamlining. Given the size and spread of our workforce pool, TempRE should allow us much greater self-sufficiency.

We’re delighted by the high utilisation levels and the amount of savings generated.

TempRE’s management information showed us what was going wrong and gave us the evidence to push through a tough line on direct engagement. With the support of the Liaison Workforce team and the ongoing reporting provided, we have been able to take control of locum engagement and agency spending.

The first weekly report that showed we had achieved zero wasted medical locum spend was one of the best spreadsheets I have ever seen!
