With the aim of reducing the elective care waiting list, NHS England has announced the launch of the NHS Emeritus pilot scheme, which is supported by Liaison Workforce technology.
Our cloud-based workforce platform, already widely used in the NHS, links recently retired consultants – who still hold a licence to practice – with secondary care providers looking for elective care support.
Providers upload the activity they want covered, such as outpatient appointments, specialist advice requests, and education and training support, and emeritus consultants can then express their interest in covering those activities.
Liaison Workforce Managing Director, Judith Shaw, states: “Our technology ensures that recently retired consultants can be matched to NHS acute trusts that require their expertise. We’re delighted to be able to support this project, which will help reduce the backlog, alleviate pressures on trusts, and provide high quality care for patients and their loved ones.”
