Liaison appoints new Director to help drive new services for CCGs

Hugh Reynolds joins NHS financial services specialist Liaison Care as CHC Strategy and Clinical Director to further develop the innovative suite of service offerings for Clinical Commissioning Groups.

A strategic director with more than 30 years’ experience of working within the health and social care sectors, Hugh’s focus will be on developing new Liaison Care services to support the delivery of continuing healthcare (CHC) by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

Hugh comments: “The delivery of CHC services varies widely in England and there is an opportunity for significant improvements to be realised with the launch of the new National Framework for Continuing Healthcare, due to come into effect on 1st October 2018.”

“It is my vision that Liaison Care will support NHS England to achieve their aims of providing fair access to NHS Continuing Healthcare in a way which ensures; better outcomes, better experiences for patients and families and better use of resources, by working closely with CCGs on their end to end delivery of CHC services,” adds Hugh.

He continues: “The current issues relating to the eligibility of CHC funding and the complex nature of this funding are challenging to most CCGs. Despite extensive efforts by the NHS to introduce controls, errors and payments can still occur. Liaison Care has been working with CCGs in identifying and recovering the costs incurred by these errors while providing support and best practice advice to ensure future errors are prevented.”

Liaison Care’s track record in undertaking CHC financial reviews means the team is already experienced at identifying and recovering missed savings. These review services have no upfront fee, with charges only made on any funds recovered.  In the first year of offering these reviews, Liaison Care identified over £3.2m in savings for CCGs.
